Challenge

McDonald's wanted to promote its limited-edition Happy Meal collaboration with Hello Kitty and Yu-Gi-Oh! in a way that was fun, kid-friendly, and interactive. The campaign needed to highlight the collectible toys while keeping the gameplay simple enough for young audiences to understand and enjoy.

Pre-Sale Mock Journey

McDonald's Happy Meal Pre-Sale Mocks

I created multiple pre-sale mockups for Happy Meal campaigns including JustDance, Pet Simulator, and TMNT + Hello Kitty and Friends. Each concept was designed around the client's objectives and highlighted the unique features of the toy sets, making the experiences simple, fun, and engaging for kids. By tailoring gameplay mechanics and visuals to each promotion, I built interactive experiences that delighted young audiences while strengthening the client's confidence in our creative direction.

I was responsible for every stage, from concept development and design mockups to production-ready assets, ensuring consistency and polish throughout. These pre-sale mockups became a decisive factor in winning campaigns and directly contributed to the successful design and launch of seven Happy Meal promotions over the past two years.

Post-Sale Execution & Outcome

McDonald's Happy Meal Yu-Gi-Oh Hello Kitty Final

I created the game layout and interactive flow, designing every element to keep navigation intuitive for kids while remaining visually engaging. To guide players without relying on text, I added an animated hand icon that demonstrated the drag-and-drop motion. Each transformation included a swirl or storm effect that added surprise and excitement.

The game concluded with a branded Happy Meal image and video, reinforcing the promotion and encouraging repeat play. The final execution delivered a polished, interactive experience that was easy for kids to enjoy and highly effective in promoting the collectible toys.
